After ten years and two inquiries the Government has finally accepted the need for a supermarket watchdog.
But supermarkets are trying to weaken its remit.
> Take action to protect farmers and consumers

The watchdog would enforce a new Code of Practice to keep supermarkets in line.
It would address supermarket bullying of farmers and ensure a fairer deal for consumers.
But without a strong and independent watchdog supermarkets will continue to abuse their buyer power.
Instead of committing to firm action the Government has begun a consultation on the issue.
This consultation opens the way for supermarkets to lobby the Government and push for a weak watchdog.
Supermarkets want business as usual - rather than a fair deal for farmers and consumers.
We have until 30 April to make sure this watchdog's bite is as big as its bark.
Please tell the minister responsible to commit to a strong and independent watchdog.
