More than half of the world's biggest economies aren't countries they're companies. And business muscle is growing at the expense of people and the planet. In Nigeria Shell continues to burn off waste gas from its oil extraction activities. Gas flaring has been illegal for years. But Shell still does it 24 hours a day, risking people's health and contributing to climate change. Across the world businesses like Shell ignore awkward questions about people and the environment. This is because their priority is to make a profit. And they only need to answer to their shareholders. The UK Government is re-writing Company Law now.
