Demand real food

Pack 4
July to November 2000

Our real food pack challenged supermarkets to provide food free from GM ingredients and pesticides, and pushed for more organic food at affordable prices.
Campaign Express pack demanding real food

Results of this pack - SUCCESS!

We asked you to challenge your supermarket by sending off our postcard demanding pesticide-free, GM-free food and calling for more and cheaper organic food.

The pack certainly made an impact and we can report that several stores are improving their policies. In talks with some supermarkets, we even discovered that some would like to be at the top of our Supermarket League Table (which was also enclosed in the pack).

Also in the pack was a postcard to send to your MP asking them to back a new bill called the Organic Food and Farming Targets Bill. The Bill aims to have 30 per cent of UK farmland in organic production by 2010. Since these went out, 70 more MPs have supported the Bill, giving us hope we can get it passed. The Bill is being pushed by a coalition of organisations led by Sustain, the Alliance for Better Food and Farming.
