Many thanks to the thousands of you who took part in this mass demand for more investment in our railways which made a considerable impact.
Your call has been echoed. Reports from the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and Parliament have pressed for extra rail investment.

It is essential that the Government commits to fund those projects that are necessary to provide a first-class railway, and not just those that the private sector is prepared to support. |
House of Commons Transport Select Committee
Gordon Brown is now very aware of your strength of feeling and his right hand man, the chief secretary to the treasury has been in touch. Unfortunately, despite all this, the chancellor has only brought some already allocated money forward for transport and hasn't committed any extra money for rail in his Comprehensive Spending Review.
But this is just the beginning of the story. Thanks to you there is now a better chance for more money for rail. Watch this space In the lead up to the next budget. We'll let you know what happens.
