Communities back renewable energy

Friends of the Earth is campaigning in support of renewable energy. Renewable energy can provide us with a clean, long-lasting and secure energy supply.

It can also help us to tackle climate change and generate jobs and investment.

Join the energy revolution

But for all of that to happen, the Government needs to act. It is due to publish a Renewable Energy Strategy in March 2009 and this is their chance to do just that.

As a first step to delivering an energy revolution, this strategy needs to do two important things.
  • Stick to its promises
Deliver at least 15% of UK power from renewables by 2020.
  • Rig the system in favour of renewables
Restructure the energy industry in favour of renewables.

Community support

Groups, businesses and organisations from all over the country are building up the pressure. They want the Government to make renewables the number one source of energy in the UK.

As the campaign progresses this page will be updated with their details.

The more that lend their support, the louder will be the message to Government that the country wants an energy revolution.
