Successes7 July 2008
Friends of the Earth gets results. Since the early 1990s we've been convincing politicians and the public to take climate change seriously.
Help us do more.
With hundreds of thousands of supporters we got the Government to pass the UK Climate Change Act in 2008 - a world first.
But we didn't stop there. In 2009 we got the Government to revise the way it calculates the cost of carbon - making it more difficult to justify highly polluting projects.
We've also persuaded the Government to set more ambitious renewable energy targets, and supported numerous communities to have local clean energy schemes.
And because of our campaigning, households that produce their own electricity and heat from renewable sources will get paid for it.
In Northern Ireland our Green New Deal recommends ways of tackling rising fuel prices climate change, rising fuel prices and recession.
