Biofuels not so Innocent

When the UK's largest grassroots environmental organisation partners up with the summer's biggest little fete it can only lead to something fantastic.

The Innocent Village Fete returns to Regent's Park, London on 2-3 August 2008.

We're taking our biofuels campaign to the Great Outdoors area of the fete, where we'll be dodging the welly wangers and the duck herding.

We'll be trying out our:

• Brand new mobile theatre troupe.
• Wet sponge throwing.

40,000 fete goers will be enjoying everything from morris dancing and face painting, to the farmers market and real ale and cider.

There will even be a big performance by the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain!

Tickets are £7.50 for adults and £3.50 for kids and you can buy them on the Innocent Fete website. Children under 3 go free so won't need a ticket.

The fete is open from 11am to 7pm on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 August in Regent's Park in London.

Politicians and corporations are promoting the large scale production of biofuels from crops as a solution to climate change.

But the rush to biofuels has the potential to:

• Destroy forests and valuable habitats.
• Produce more greenhouse gases than they save.
• Threaten the food supply and livelihoods of some of the world's most vulnerable people.

Friends of the Earth believes that better solutions to climate change are available and that decision makers must pursue these now.
