FOE backs food ethics report on GMOs

The Food Ethics Council has published a new report criticising the Nuffield Council's recent gung-ho report on bioethics. It also calls for a more cautious approach to genetically modified (GM) food and crops.

Adrian Bebb, Biotech Campaigner at Friends of the Earth (FOE) said:
"The Novel Foods: Beyond Nuffield report backs up what Friends of the Earth has been saying for a long time on this issue. Unfortunately, rather than adopting the precautionary principle towards GM crops and food the government has been playing Russian roulette with our countryside and health."
