Pages hosted by Friends of the Earth

Each Friends of the Earth local group has a set of webpages hosted on the national website. These show contact details for the group, plus information about what the group is up to. See an example at http://www.foe.co.uk/bury.

These pages are kept up to date by group members - you don't need any particular web skills, its not much more complicated than filling in some online forms.

There are currently sections for:

  • news updates
  • campaigns
  • links
  • photos
  • events

and we'll be adding to these over time. Ther's also a form for people to use to contact the group directly.

You can use the address of your group's page in your publicity materials, and people will see your pages when they look for their nearest Friends of the Earth group on the website.

All groups have been sent instructions, but if you need a reminder or haven't received them, simply email us with your email address, your name, and the name of your group. Its helpful if you put "Local group websites" in the subject line.

Websites hosted elsewhere

If you want a more detailed site for your group, you will need to arrange hosting elsewhere. There are so many companies offering this that it's impossible to recommend one - but this is a useful forum thread.

There's a template available if you want to create your own site - each of the compressed files below contains an HTML template, a stylesheet and a logo.

How to download and use the templates:

  1. Right mouse click on the link to the file you want to download.
  2. Choose Save Link As... or Save Target As... depending on what browser you are using.
  3. Choose a place to save the file and click Save.
  4. To install these files you will need to uncompress them - we suggest using ZipCentral

If you have any problems using the templates, or have any comments on them, please email us or telephone 020 7490 1555.
