Town goes plastic bag-free

All shopkeepers in the Devon town of Modbury have pledged to not use plastic bags for at least six months. Instead, they'll be handing out 100% biodegradable bags, recyclable paper bags or reusable cotton and jute bags (printed with water-based organic ink).

See this Guardian article for the full Modbury story.

On a similar note, South Hams Friends of the Earth are running an "undress your shopping" campaign highlighting the issue of excess packaging, and targetting Morrisons in particular. See the campaign website for more details. Inspiring ideas - perhaps they can be copied in your town?
