Modern lifestyles are very dependent on energy derived from coal, oil and gas to supply warmth, light and other power.

But the worldwide burning of fossil fuels for energy is now causing dangerous global climate changes. Toxic air, ground and water pollution are a consequence of the extraction, transportation, and use of fossil fuels, and of nuclear power.

To minimise climate changes we need to use energy far more efficiently and generate that energy by renewable energy technologies.

The worldwide use of safe, clean and secure renewable energy technologies could also resolve some of the international political tensions about fossil fuel resources, nuclear power and even climate change.

Friends of the Earth Cymru is campaigning for:

• major investment in energy efficiency schemes
• transport policies which reduce carbon dioxide emissions
• low-carbon policies and carbon taxation
