Waste21 April 2010
Wales has one of the worst recycling records in Europe. Our throwaway society has left a legacy of badly managed landfill sites. These tips have caused community anxiety as research suggests a possible link between landfill sites and ill health.
Incineration emissions have caused health worries and the ash still needs to be landfilled. Incineration also wastes valuable resources.
Friends of the Earth Cymru campaigns for:
- high levels of recycling and composting
- a freeze on building new incinerators
- support for waste minimisation.
