Environmental campaigning - What can I do?1 April 2004
- How can one person affect change?
- Can we make big business and government listen?
- Do environmental campaign groups make a difference?
Tony Juniper, Friends of the Earth's Executive Director looks at how environmental campaigning can be effective at a local, national and international level.
Friends of the Earth continues to be involved in many high profile campaigns in Wales, the UK and internationally. Whether it be campaigning to keep Wales GM free, trying to stop the import and scrapping of the toxic 'ghost ships' in Hartlepool or campaigning against corporate globalisation and trying to make companies responsible for their actions.
The meeting will discuss, how we can:
- Regulate big business and their investments to ensure people and the environment come before profits?
- Ensure supermarkets give a fair deal to farmers who produce our food and save food and farming from unfair global trade rules?
- Work together to ensure that the Welsh Assembly sets a target of 'zero waste' in Wales and puts a freeze on any new incinerators in Wales?
- Act now to protect our local environment for future generations?
