Regional policy in Yorkshire and the Humber

The Yorkshire and the Humber Regional Assembly has drawn up policies that will decide and shape the region's future.

This includes what can and can't be built in Yorkshire and the Humber for the next twenty years.

These policies will be contained in the regional masterplan known as the Yorkshire and the Humber Plan.

Key issues in the Yorkshire and the Humber Plan that we are focusing on are:

• Greenhouse gas reduction targets
  The targets set by the plan have been removed by Government.
• Over-development
  The scale of infrastructure development proposed in the plan is likely to exceed environmental limits.
• Housing
  Up to 30,000 houses are to be built every year until 2016, some on land prone to flooding.

The final plan is due to be published in Spring 2008.
